Dorset West SUMMER RETREAT
Designed as a summer retreat for a large, multigenerational family who splits their time between Vermont and Florida, every room was thoughtfully reimagined to bring comfort, personality, and a sense of fun to the space.
With sweeping views of Owl’s Head Mountain, the house is meant to be lived in and filled with people. Six bedrooms provide space for family and guests, including a cheerful bunk room designed especially for grandkids and sleepovers.
The interiors are bright and playful with moments of whimsy throughout the house. A guest bath features lively fish wallpaper, while a woodland star pattern transforms one of the guest bedrooms. In the bunk room, a soft tree-ring wallpaper adds texture and warmth, and even the laundry room gets its own moment with a charming bicycle print.
The main staircase is one of my favorite details in the house. A custom runner travels the length of the stairs, finished with brass pins along the edges for a tailored look that adds a little sparkle and craftsmanship.
Downstairs, the basement was designed for serious game-time energy. The family are devoted Florida Gators fans, so naturally the space includes a custom Gator-blue Big Chill retro refrigerator and plenty of room for gathering around the TV on game day.
Homes like this are about more than beautiful rooms. They are about creating a place where generations can gather, celebrate, and make memories together. It has been an incredible space to work in and a joy to see evolve over the years.
