Day 106: Maps!

Day 106 of 365 Days of a Happy Home

Anyone who knows my style can tell I LOVE MAPS!  They can be colorful or simple, detailed or sparse.  I am finding they are becoming a thing of the past with the omnipotent on line mapping systems.  As a result, these paper treasures now mark history, tell a story and bring life to any room in your house.  Here are a few examples:

In this media room I designed for a well traveled family, I added a custom sized map of the world to one of the major walls. It is a great conversation piece.

This map wallpaper is the perfect backdrop to this simple pedestal sink.

I love this idea of taking an over sized map and framing it in series . Looks like the map has been hand colored, too.

Globes are an obsession with me....

School room maps are great wall art. If they still have their roller, they can also be used to camouflage a wall mounted TV.

Sweet and simple.

Love this chair!

At one time Pottery Barn sold wall mounted maps.

How do they do that? Is the map screened onto the fabric and then made into the shade?

Shades of blue!
